TARGET AUDIENCE & EVIDENCE 

Our Target Audience will be 15 years to older generations/ a more mature
audience.
Being a horror, it will be unsuitable for younger people, which is commonly seen in
horror films due to the fear and props used to induce that fear.
We are thinking of a horror/comedy film possibly based off the Netflix movie ”In the
tall Grass”, for this reason it may be mainly enjoyable by people ages 15-30.

GENRE & CONVENTIONS
Horror/Comedy:
Cheesy chase scene, someone always trips.
Hidden Antagonist throughout the film.
Plot twist.
The unknown is more feared than the known.
E.g. (Truth or dare, Halloween, In the tall grass)
Crows/ iconographic sound effects and music.

BUDGET
We have a very limited budget and therefore we must carefully consider how we
can include
effective and realistic costumes.
This will also Impact the sound effects and music we are able to use.
Locations must also be free and accessible for us all. 

BBFC RATINGS
Being a horror, we must be careful who this film will be suitable for, our aim is rating
15.
Based on what props/actions etc. we use.
A 15 will still allow for mild violence and references, including violence and sexual/ explicit images.

Before my research into horror/comedy short films, I studied 3 short films: About a Girl, Finley, The Detective. The films are completely different styles but are of the same genre to help influence my own short film. I decided to make my short film based on my knowledge of horror and comedy and learned what shot types and angles i could use as a convention of my short film. We used our spare rooms in college such as the lecture theatre and used different corridors as our short film was based around some friends creating a Halloween costume. In cinematography of a horror there are close-ups, which can be used to capture emotions. For my unit 3, i had to create a media product, which included a front cover, contents page and double page spread. I called my magazine 'ANTI', which was a reference to the theme of my magazine being a rapper and he had a tattoo that states 'ANTI'. I used some of the same equipment in unit 3 as I had to create my unit 5 short film. In addition, I have also used the same conventions which I had to consider before I created the products, such as genre codes. I considered codes and conventions from other horror films such as 'About a Girl', 'Finley' & 'The Detective', where I had to consider colour, music, proxemics, acting, costume, camera angle and camera shots.
